Visiting with Freddy

Fred had a training conference in Austin last week and I got to tag along. We got to see Freddy!
Waiting for Freddy to have breakfast!
My Freds!
I am so glad we got to see him! He turned 25 on Friday, but he will always be my baby!
I am hoping to be able to get all the kids to come see us soon. Freddy can drive up, but I will be flying Steph and Andy here. I have been looking at flights, and boy! they aren't cheap! I'm going to start a 'flying' fund to save for the tickets. I would love to get them to come for 4th of July weekend....

Random Pics

As I drive around, my eyes catch some neat scenery. But for some reason, the pictures I have taken don't do them justice. (they are more breathtaking in person) But they are nice nonetheless and I thought I would share!

I have seen a couple of buildings decorated with the Texas flag.... I see this everytime we are coming back into town and this angle of the field and the old house far away just gets to me. (I made it black/white)
This little guy was crossing the path when I was going to mom's motel room.... he hurried across the street when he saw me coming, and when I stopped the car to take a picture, he stopped and turned his head.... he posed for me!

I see this on the way to church every Sunday and I made Fred pull over this past Sunday.... again, a neat sight... to me anyway...

This is a very cool looking house on the top of the hill in a big piece of property... this is what Fred and I hope to have one day... maybe WITHOUT the cows in the front yard though
There are a bunch of goats in the property next to the motel mom is staying.... I made Fred take this for the sake of my niece Savanna since I told her we were going to get goats when I moved here!
This is a little pond in the property where the motel is. It's very peaceful....
This is a rose bush I drive by everytime I go see mom.... I have fought the urge to take some of the blooms home with me!!
Again, a field near the motel.... there are fields and fields full of wildflowers around here... love it!

Taking down of the porch

I was trying to post one of Tom pulling off the concrete steps, but I guess it was too long to post....

More work on Old House

Tom and Rachel have been doing more work on the house.... Here is another shot of the front porch...
And now the porch is gone.....
This is where it ended up.... It was a windy day so Fred was standing by with the water hose...
Tom's tractor sure comes in handy.... here he is giving Rachel a ride to the front of the house...
More of the porch...

A lot of progress was made in just one day. Kuddos to Tom & Rachel!

26th Anniversary

Today is our 26th wedding anniversary. Boy, has a lot happened in those years!! Some great, some not so good. But put all together, it has brought us here. And here is not so bad.

I am amazed at how blessed I am to have Fred in my life. God has definitely used him to work in me and draw me closer to what God intends me to be.

2009 was a pretty stinky year, but I know God has great things in store for the 2 of us in 2010, and I am eager and ready for it!

By the way, this picture is from our Renewal of Vows ceremony in 2004. I still can't believe Fred went along with it, since this would be in the category of "mushy sentimental". So I know he did it just for me, and I love him for it!!

Haunted House

Fred's brother, Tom, purchased a house not far from where he lives now. It's a 100 year old house, and Fred has gotten to calling it the 'Haunted House'.
It is in rough shape, to say the least. It really needs to be gutted and start over. But Tom likes to do that kind of stuff. He worked on the last 2 houses he bought, except this one is a HUGE project. At first glance, I thought he was insane. But I got to see inside. It is a great old house. Yes, it is going to take tons of work, but if they get it done, it's going to be amazing. Cleaning out the storage building....
They are first working on the yard. It is all overgrown, and some dead trees. We were there Saturday to help some, but honestly, mostly watch. (lol)
Fred got to use the riding mower, he liked that..... They have 1 acre, LOTS of mowing...
Fred has 'toy envy'..... Tom has some cool Tonka Trucks! haha
This is an old outhouse... I didn't notice it at first since it is almost hidden by vines and shrubs...
Look at this beautiful window on it! So, this is a pecan tree, and this is a pecan! yes, I am realizing how much of a 'city girl' I am....

This is Grace, Tom's daughter. She is 8 yrs. old. She doesn't really talk to us much.... don't really get it, but she did let me take pictures of her doing a cartwheel...
After spending some time with the "Other Nassars" at their house, we went into Texarkana and had dinner. I now know where to go if being 'away from it all' gets to me.... It has all the stores Mt Pleasant doesn't.... good to know!
It was fun hanging out with them. It's nice to be able to reconnect with them.

PS
please pray for us. We are going to make an offer on a house this week. It would be great if all went smoothly and we could close fast....

Fun day in Jefferson

Mom had been cooped up in the motel for 2 days so we decided to do a day trip yesterday. Tom suggested we went to Jefferson. It's a little town full of antiques shops. Mom would love that (and me too!)
You could get a horse carriage ride, along with 'ghost tours'.....
Old fashioned barber shop... and me.... lol
Jefferson General Store, had really cool stuff!

Mom wanted her picture taken in front of this statue because she thought it was of Thomas Jefferson.... it wasn't.... haha

There were Lots of motorcycles. It was a great day for a ride

Pretty church in the back....
Cool looking building and my favorite drink!
Fred patiently waiting for me and mom to finish looking in the store this cat lived in one of the antique stores. there was a sign on the door that said : do not let cat out no matter what he tells you.... lol

I didn't get a picture of where we ate. It was called "The Bakery". It was mainly sandwiches and soups. They did make their own bread. Very good. I have to come back. There was a lot of places we didn't get to see.

Over all, it was a very nice day!
